1995 70hp force wont start

Hi new here I have a 1995 hydra pontoon 20ft<br />Been running good tryed to go out today and would not start was like starter just went so pulled cover and bad wire burnt smell and the starter was hot.did not try cranking it to long of a time as i know starters get burnt up that way.but in the few seconds it tryed it it really smells burnt bad from the starter. so do you think new starter time or someting else may be wrong? thanks for any help

Sounds bad.<br />Possibly rebuildable.<br />Double check all wiring connections to see if one has come loose.

Thanks anyways. had starter checked out and brushes were worn out would have had it rebuilt but guy said magnet was cracked and might not work right. so he found me a new on for 130 bucks not bad wene everone else wanted 185 on up. now it fires right up bealy touch the key and its running.
