Just bought a 17' key west cc with a 1995 90hp. Everything is super clean, however when first starting from cold an alarm starts going off after a couple minutes, and if you rev the motor a little the alarm beeping speeds up a little in sync with revs. There is a temp gauge that shows normal temp and the heads don't seem to be hot, can basically hold my hand an them. Then if you shut down the alarm it typically will not come back on when restarted. Any ideas???

If you still have the orginal VRO oil tank on it the electronics in it may be causing this. Disconnect the wires going to it and see what happens. You could also have a bad horn.

Thanks! I'll check that when I start messing with it this afternoon. In my searching I noticed a few threads where people stated different sequences of alarm tones meaning different things, is there somewhere that has this breakdown or does anyone know them? It's an Evinrude btw, not that it matters I guess.

It does matter (all motors won't have all alarms):

By the way, you should consider getting an owner's manual from outboardbooks.com. It would have all the basic info about your motor.

Excellent, thanks! Since it appears to be the "no oil flow from pump" alarm, but there is definitely oil getting to the motor, is there a sensor that might be going on the fritz? There is a primer bulb on the oil line that is hard as a rock, I plan to replace this too.
