Okay, I have a 1995 Evinrude 115 mounted on my 95 tidecraft bassboat. Anyway last season it stared acting up on me boat became hard to start then once started up would run fine, once I killed it to use trolling motor, then tried to restart the engine would not start for 20-30 minutes. this season would not run, I replaced one of the coils that was bad, would run but would not restart so far I have replaced the CDI powerpack, and replaced the ignition this morning. Now where Im sitting is the motor will not start at all unless I manually choke it giving about half choke, then as soon as I turn the choke off it will die or not even start it will even die with choke half on its not wanting to run at all. please help. thanks.

Some basic things should be done. Check the compression on the engine to make sure the powerhead is ok. Then get a spark-gap tester and check all 4 plugwires for spark when cranking. It's a bear to try to start that engine if the choke (primer) solenoid does not work or you are not priming it properly for cold starting. When cranking, pull the spark plugs out and check them: are they wet or dry?

I actually had it diagnosed turned out they said my ignition timer base is bad. So hopefully after replacing that this week it will run right.
