Hello
sorry for my bad english =) iam from Germany and school was long time ago.
I have an issue with my 1995 Evinrude 40 vro probably with the Carbs.
The story of the Engine :
In 2018 i completly rebuild the Powehead because of Low Compression on the Button Cylinder.
Build in new Oversize Pistons, Seals, Bearings and Rebuild the Carbs with an Supersonic cleaner and
check all little holes by hand.
For the next Year the Engine runs great nice Idle and a lot of Power.
In the last year it starts again to rough idle and iam not sure it is new but i think there is an new Knocking sound close to The Top Cylinder near the Crankshaft Bearing.
In the Winter i rebuild the Carbs again and delete the Original VRO Pump and replace it with an Sierra Fuelpump mounted on the Powerhead.
Actually Problem is The Motor idles Ok but very Rough on 1000rpm for 3-4 minutes after 4 minutes the RPMS will drop slowly and the motor will stall.
The Ignition Timing already checked with an TimingLightGun its 1 Degree BTDC and in Gear 0-1 Degree AFTDC.

I love this engine, but iam close to freaking out with this thing ^^

Can anybody help me out ?

Roller bearing and seal? Maybe missing the upper bearing O-ring.

I don't believe the'95 40 had VRO, but might be wrong. What is the model number for your motor.

When the motor was rebuilt was the bearing properly lined up with the dowel ?-----The 95 model 40 certainly came with VRO.----The 48 models did not !---The upper bearing o-ring would have no bearing on this looseness.
