i have a 1995 120 force. it sat up for a year or two, and i was advised that it may be a good idea to change the water pump. i changed the water pump, but there is not a solid stream of water dispersing from the pee whole of the engine. is this normal? any suggestions or tips would be very helpful. thanks.

You should get a steady stream from that motor.

I would suggest replacing the thermostat.
It is located just above the top sparkplug, has a small cover held on with 4 screws.

also is a thermostat an expensive thing to change, or would it be fairly cheap?

The thermostat from Mercury is $15. It is a 130* thermostat.
You can also get one from NAPA, from their marine catalog for a few bucks less.
