1995 Force

I just purchased a 1995 Sylvan Pontoon boat w/this motor attached. Right below where you take the top cover of the motor, there is a peice of the casing missing. It has been backed up against somthing and has broke this piece off the motor. Will this affect how the motor runs? Should I cover it with something? It looks like tape has been over it in the past. How much would it cost to replace this part? Thanks for your help!

The bonnets on OBs are not completely airtight anyway, so you should have no problems with it,unless it get's rained-on,or water backs up on the bonnet when cutting the throttle back..You don't want a wet CD ignition system.<br />Perhaps a good auto body repairman could fabricate a piece to go in there, or just glass-over the damaged area.It may look funky, but as they say, "It's better to feel good then to look good".
