Hey all, new to the site, and boats in general. I have pretty advanced knowledge of engines/mechanics though.

I bought a 95 Candia with a 5.8 OMC Cobra the other day and I'm looking to service it. Engine side is pretty straight forward. I am curious about the outdrive. I've seen numerous videos and walkthroughs of the outdrive oil change...they all have starboard lower plugs. Even the pdf write ups I've found. Interestingly, my outdrive is marked OMC Cobra, but the lower two plugs are on the port side.

As far as I know, the boat is stock and relatively untouched. I've read there are different oil change procedure for different generation OMC outdrives. What is the correct procedure for mine?

Thanks to an Amazon review I found out that the outdrive, although marked as OMC Cobra, is in fact a Volvo SX. I guess this was the transition year for OMC and Volvo. This answers all my questions and I was able to find the proper procedure for this unit.

Just saw this and thought the same thing based on your first post. You should have a ID tag on the drive that will match up to Volvo part numbers
