I was wondering if anyone out there has any advice for me as I think I might have an issue with my rectifier/regulator. I have a 1995 Johnson 115 60 looper on a 19' center console that was recently rebuilt so I am just about ready to stop running double oil mix.
Engine has been running fine and is very strong. All systems electrical and mechnical were fine until...
Last weekend I took her out to my usual spot which takes about 20 minutes, when I stopped to drift I noticed the upon restarting the tach needle bounced up to 2K with the key on engine off. When I started up the idle was rough and barely running so to keep it running I would have to throttle it up or shift it to gear quickly to get moving. Tach needle was erratic and bouncing around it seemed to be about 2K above actual RPMs. This persisted for the rest of the day and on the way to port. When I got back I shut down and everything seemed to be back to normal so to test it I went back out again and the idle was fine and the tach was back to normal.
I also noticed my volt guage is always pinned when the engine is running.
I have been reading some of these postings and came to the conclusion that I must have a problem with a loose wire or with the rectifier/regulator.
Does anyone out there got any hints?
Really appreciate your help!
