I have had problems with my motor, Shaking , blowing motors and such, doing my second rebuild now, and we haven't found the original culprit that has been the root of the problem. I started thinking about things that happened before all the problems with my motor. Well one day I went to crank up the motor, and the batterey was dead it was low on juice, and the dumb thing I did was to take jumper cables and run them from my trolling motor battery, and jump my starting battery. Is this a no no, and what would be the parts that this could have damaged. thanks , Jimmy learning the hardway and the expensive way

Hi Jimmy,<br />Is your motor oil injected or do you mix 50:1?VRO pumps can go bad and not pump sufficent oil to the motor causing mechanical damage. It seems to me if your on your second rebuild a lubrication problem may exist.

since we rebuilt the motor , we disassembles the oil injection and went with oil mixed in the gas, what would be the recommended oil to gas mixture for breakin and then what is recommended for after the breakin. I will tell you that my mechanic had me putting 20 oz to every 6 gal. of fuel. is this sufficient for breakin of new motor. Thanks , jimmy

32 oz per 6 gallons is recommended for first 10 hrs (25:1). After that, 1 pint (16 oz) per 6 gallons.

Re: 1995 johnson 130 hp

on my receipt of my motor rebuild, I was instructed to use 20 oz. of oil for every 6 gal. of fuel on the breakin, which he said would be 4 tanks of fuel. since my motor has blown up again I have questioned that mechanic on the oil ratios you have quoted and those ratios are also in the manual. He says after 30 years he uses the ratio of 20 oz. of oil to every 6 gal. of fuel to avoid fowling spark plugs. I in return challenged him to explain to me how a $3 spark plug can outway the rebuild of a motor. He now is resleaving my motor. thanks for your help

Re: 1995 johnson 130 hp

in reference to that ratio 25:1 on breakin, does that refer to breakin on a brand new motor, no wear on moving parts, this motor is a 1995 130 hp that has had unspecified hrs, I have had it 16 months, I have put 50 hrs on the motor but there is no telling how many in total. so the bearings and other parts are probably already broke in, my last break in was on cylinders bored, my new breakin is going to be with re sleaved cylinders, do I still use 25:1 on the breakin. a friend of mine and I had a conversation as to weather you would use that ratio on brand new vs. rebuilt and has worn moving parts. thanks, just trying to cover all bases
