I had a lean condition which caused the loss of compression on one cylinder. I pulled the head and the scratches are not deep at all. I can still see some of the "cross-hatching" marks through the abrasions. What are my options? Honing? Is there a way to tell if the abrasions are too deep to hone?

If you can feel the scratches it needs rebore. In saying that i rebuilt twin 40hp 1990 evinrudes that had scored cylinders.A couple of decent scratches in each motor and i didnt want to spend too much money on those old motors so i just replaced piston and rings. The scratches didint effect compression or power. They both ran like new motors for years.Ended up selling boat and the motors are still going strong.
