I will try and get the lingo correct..... I just rebuilt all six carbs with kits after having the boat sit for roughly a year. I did this because when you primed the bulb, fuel would leak out of 5 of them. After successfully rebuilding I am now having a issue with fuel leaking behind (between butterfly's and reeds). It appears that if I turn the Red valve straight down (6 O'clock) the problem goes away. I would figure this may just be the choke, but am curious when you would need this valve turned in any other position???? Any ideas? Thanks

feder,<br /> The red valve you are referring to is on the primer solenoid assembly.Your motor is not equipped with a choke(the solenoid does this). The red pointer should always be pointing down(when not servicing). The valve is used to control the amount of fuel injected into the carbs. when the primer button(key) is activated.Pointer down(vertical) is normal. It may be adjusted for elevation,etc....

Right on Reel Appeal. Feder, the red handle is also used to manually prime the engine if the solenoid craps out. Just turn it almost straight up and the fuel pump pressure will shoot fuel into the engine for starting. Turn it back down after it's running. If the primer solenoid can also be equiped with a maint. valve (it will have what looks like a tire valve) this can be used for typical maint. like decarbing and fogging the engine for storage. Handy little gaget. :D
