My outboard was smoking pretty bad so I disconnected the VRO and started now premix my fuel. It ran great with little to no smoke. But, now it started surging after about 5min under any load. The fuel blub goes flat, but if I pump while running the engine revs back up and runs fine for about the same amount of time. Is the fuel pump bad? If so can I get a normal fuel pump instead of VRO pump? I looked at the fuel lines they seem to fine with no leaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A fuel pump/VRO capable of flattening the primer bulb normally isn't bad. You problably have a fuel restriction between the tank and the primer bulb or in the bulb's inlet valve.
