1995 Merc 115hp wont fire.

What should i check first. Turns over but will not fire off. Not even a pop.

Check for spark at all plugs. No spark? Check emergency kill switch. If that has not been tripped disconnect the black/yellow wire at the switch box and check again. If you now have spark you have a problem with your kill circuit. Let us know what you find.

You have 2 options: fuel or ignition.

How long has it been since it was last run?

It was about 3 months. I got the engine to run today. Then when I stopped it the ground terminals on the battery were hot (blisters on my fingers hot). I looked at the ignition switch and one of the six terminals was broken off. Now when I turn the key it does not turn over. However if I jump the starter sylenoid it cranks. Also, the trim will not work unlsee I jump the sylenoid. Is there something in the ignition that would cause this?

sounds like your starter was still engaged while running the engine. The start relay is probable bad now. The power for your tilt trim either ties in at the battery or starter. There is a wiring diagram in your owners manual.
