Hello to all!

Have a 1995 Merc 175hp, been sitting for about 2 months and went to start it on the hose.

Once running, began a constant rapid beeping, non-stop. Shut off motor and inspected both oil tanks (all were full and ok)

So far, I have done the following tests:

- Ohm the oil tank sensor (got reading sliding magnet) -ok

-performed motion pump sensor test (checked voltage on blue/wht wire while cranking 4-5volts then dropping below 1 volt every 2 RPMs)

Anyone see this before and can guide me to another step?? I am planning to run it on a hose in the morning on a mixed tank of gas 50:1 and will perform the oil volume test to see that the pump is really putting out.

Thanks in advance!

I think the constant bbEEEEEEEEEEEEEppp is an overheat alarm.
How is your pee stream ( water flow)? Take the cowling off and run it and feel the heads, if they are really hot then you have an overheating problem. Do you have a water pressure gauge or temp gauge?
Might just need a new water pump.
If it is a beep beep beep beep, then oil is the problem. Check the float inside the tank on the engine. With the engine running, take off the cap and turn it upside down and if the beep beep stops, then that would be the problem. Some of the newer caps have a magnet glued on some way and I have read post where they have fallen off, down into the tank. The manual actually say not to remove the cap but disconnect the wires at the bullet fitting and check for continuity. There should not be any"continuity" through the sensor. Sounds like you have done everything else. Run premix of 50-1 until you solve the problem.

I trouble shooted all the way down to a faulty alarm warning module; I had volume pumping oil; the geats on the crank (plastic gear) look great; the overheat sensors ohmed out good; the oil cap sensor ohmed out good.
Will final post after new module is in with update!

OK; found a culprit, finally; After trying all 3 leads on the front switch box for the green wire pickup for the module, I tried going to another switchbox; IT WORKED!

Now, what would cause a weak-sparking switch box (only one of 2)?

Probably means the switchbox is ailing and will eventually fail. How's it running, are you getting a nice blue spark? Should clear a 7/16" gap. Unfortunately, it is recommended that you replace both switchboxes not just the bad one.

Get CDI/Rapair switchboxes. www.seilermarine.com carries them.
