1995 mercruiser 305 Thermostat

Hi there .....

I'm in the process of replacing my cracked block with a Rapido marine block.

I've been cleaning all the tin and parts before bolting everything back on the block.

I'm at the point of cleaning the thermostat housing but can't get the plastic spacer out in order to remove the thermostat to put in a new one.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the spacer (white plastic sleeve hold the thermostat down)?

Nothing retains the sleeve. Must be stuck with crud and corrosion. Maybe some PB Blaster and a few choice words.

Sounds good I'll try that....my ears are peeled to all suggestions. It doesn't budge at all, no matter what I do........
