Before our first outing I replaced the water seperating fuel filter, and fired up the engine with muffs attached. Ran it on idle till it was at operating temperature and all seemed well. We had a full tank of gas and had been treated with stabil over the winter as part of the winterization service.
We were out on the lake and all seemed well. After a few minutes of running the engine died, like it ran out of gas. I started the engine back up and it ran for a few more minutes then did the same. It seeme do die much quicker when under load. We limped along to the dock where it would be moored and I let the engine run on idle. It continued to exhibit this behavior, until it ran for about 10 minutes at idle. We tried taking it out again and it started doing the same after we made it out of the no wake zone. We decided to replace the fuel fiter again, after having issues the previous year with some crud being in our fuel tank. The next morning we got out on the water and after going through this same ordeal everything started working. We were cruising up and down the lake at WOT, trying to run out the gas, thinking there was something with it. it seems that when the engine was cold it would exhibit this odd behavior. Once it was well warmed up it ran fine. We cruised the lake for about 2 hours with no problems at all, except we hit a floating object and knocked off some gelcoat (another thread).
