1995 Mercury 135 Overheat Alarm

I am purchasing a 1995 boat w/ a Merc 135 and have heard talk of overheat alarms. Does this engine come equiped with such an alarm?. I,ve had experience with older Merc's (1970's 100hp & 115hp) that did not, and became very costly after overheating. (I already plan to replace the impeller just to be safe.)

absolutely, and you will know it when you hear it. do thermostat and impeller both. impeller should be changed every other year. good luck

You could also add a water pressure gauge as you change the impeller. It's a quicker way of telling when your water pump goes bad.<br />Good luck <br /><br />The dog

On the subject of overheating, I was at the local marina last year when a guy brought his boat over to the mechanic at the dock for overheating. His Merc wasn't putting water out the pee hole. They finally found the problem, the pee hole was plugged by a piece of leach that got sucked up.
