1995 omc cobra 23,8 four winns vista

Wondering if someone can help diagnose my problem .

I seem to be struggling out of the hole my prop is 14.5 X19 alluminium. When ever i am carrying 4 or more passengers and full fuel and water. i smell a rubber burning smell and have difficulty planing, once on plane everything is ok.

I recenntly had the lower unit serviced and a tune up including compression check to see if that would rectify the problem. it has not.

I have owned the boat for three years and this problem has not always been there.

Well you're going to have to provide a little more info.

what exactly is an "OMC Cobra 23,8"?

Also what is a Four Winns Vista? Is that a 50 ft cruiser or a 16 ft runabout and what does it weigh? (approx)

Do you have top speed data to include RPM and has your top speed been checked with either GPS, RADAR, or another boat running alongside?

Do you know your drive ratio?

Does that burning rubber "smell" include black rubber "dust" in the engine compartment?

Ayuh,... So,.. What changed when it started,..??

We need some History as well as the Specs noted by Rick....
