1995 power head in 1990 clothes????

I have what is clearly a 1990 mariner 115. It is in a 3 piece cover- right,left,and a back. The serial number plate is gone. But the welch plug # is OG197776. Those numbers come back to a 1995 power head. Is it possible to repower a '90 with a '95 ???
Any ideas?

Yes with a few little mod's to carbs as the 1990 was a 71.1 ci motor and the 1995 is a 84.6 ci motor.
