$900? There's something wrong with it and he's hoping someone will just tow it away. If you don't want to be paying to fix up some lemon, water test it. If you like it, and it doesn't leak, go for it.

Re: 1995 Rinker Rocket

I'm actually from the Fayetteville area and came across this listing today as well. Had the same questions. It seems really cheap. When I was trying to do some research on this boat I came across a listing on Apollo Duck for one in Ireland. The funny thing is that it has the exact same picture as the one on craigslist, I mean EXACT. Here is the link to what I found. http://www.apolloduck.ie/display.phtml?aid=120945

Something here seems funny to me. Ill update with what I find, hoping to go and actually check it out. If you find anything I would appreciate the update. Happy boat hunting!

I think I would question the IRISH ad, did they import them to Ireland?

If your right there by all means check it out, it might be junk but the guy could just as easily be, ah, not real smart.

Re: 1995 Rinker Rocket

I would question that craigslist ad. Look at it for the signs of a scam:

1.
"1995 Rinker Rocket. 14'. Seats 6.
Boat type: Jet Drive
Hull Material: Fiberglass
Engine: 120 HP Gasoline
Net Weight: 1050
Beam: 6'10"
This is cut and paste info that the normal person would not do. Probably copied it from NADA or another site.

2. His description looks like it was written by a 10 year old. "I've got the boat and the trailer and I will sell them together or separate and will sell cheap." Well, if you didn't have the boat, why would you even place an ad? Poor grammer is a sign of a scam because in most cases, it is from a foreign person who only has limited English skills.

3. Sounds too good to be true. He puts a really cheap price on it and said he will negotiate? Also, what is it, a new baby or the wife's new car needing the drive as the reason it needs to go? That desperate tone is a huge warning sign.

4. I would not send a reply to this email address. Why is there no phone number listed? (The Irish ad does have one.) Replying to the provided email could be a way for this person to harvest a good working email address that can be sold to spam companies.

Piece, if you emailed this guy, do let us know if you get any response to this ad. I am afraid you might not, and will be seeing a lot of spam soon. If it is legit, then great, I was wrong.

Haven't heard anythig yet. Did notice that the Irish ad was posted long before the craiglist one according to the site. If it is a spam scam then bless the person that invented spam filters :) I'll definitely update if anything comes from it
