1995 seadoo SPX questions

ok as some of you know i just bought this and am learning as i go .. i need to know if there is a way to test the trim unit without the ski running the guy said something about pressing the landyard button 2 times then it will go into test mode ? does the ski have to be running for the trim to work ? i am asking because it is not working for me right now. i have not ran the ski yet since i am still going over things with it .. i did get it to fire for a moment but didnt let it run .since i dont know alot about them yet .. also is there a water pump that needs replacing like a boat motor ? is there a fuse box somewhere i need to look at and check ? .. i was trying to find an operators manual on line but only found them for 1998 and newer skis .. thanks

buy a climer repair manual for that ski,, trim motors get water in them from the rubber boot going to the nozzle trim arm and blow the 5 amp fuse in the electronics box up in front of the ski by the fuel tank,, I suspect yours has done that,, but conecting the lanyard and pressing the start button for a quick second should activate the trim controls for about 20 seconds if it is working. the jet pump is your source for cooling water and you need to know how to run the engine on a hose or you will flood the crank case,, go to www.pwcweekly.com and read the help for novice jet ski owners thread,, it will save you from a lot of expensive mistakes. climer manual number w809-3 covers sea doo p w c models from 1988 to 1996 and is probably sold right here from I boats .

again THANKS .. i have been in the boating world and am a mechanic by trade but this is a different animal i just dont want to screw anything up , or go about it the wrong way .. i have read alot of your posts here and on other forums and they are very help full
