I have a 1990 17.5 foot Wellcraft Classic 170. I am buying a 1995 Wellcraft 21ft Excel bowrider with a 4.3 I/O (put in new in 2003) on a 95 EZ Loader trailer.

The boat (though I've only seen it in pictures so far) seems to be in nice shape.

Is this a decent boat? Do any of you know what differences I'll find between the two (my 170 and the 21ft)? And what do you think of the 4.3 in it? Is it enough power?

Also what do you think would be a decent price to get a boat like this for?

Re: 1995 Wellcraft Excel

We bought the same boat only a year newer in 2007. I think we paid $7600?? That included the trailer a 96 EZ loader single axle. We are very happy with our purchase. I only wish the drought would ease, so we can use it more. The 4.3 has plenty of power, we've had as many as 8 people on board + pulling a tube. I've had it up to 40 mph on a smooth lake, I stopped for my wifes comfort, not the boats.

Here's a dumb question, the brochure for that model (I downloaded it off the Wellcraft site) describes it as a sport, cruising & fishing boat.

Given the molded stern and lack of a flat transom how would you mount a kicker motor onto it for fishing (trolling)?

On my 1990 it has a flat transom so I could bolt on a bracket, not sure how you do it on this model boat or can it be done?
