Thanks to all for the help I've gotten here in the past....

I've decided that after 12 years my motor needs a new water pump, starter solenoid, and a fuel pump change.

Questions:

1) Do I need to change the whole fuel pump or just the diaphrams? Looks like from the Yamaha parts website there is more than one in the fuel pump assembly, is it easier just to change the whole danged thing?

2) the starter solenoid has been intermittent for a couple years now, it finally gave up the ghost...luckily on the trailer, I jumped the solenoid with a screwdriver and the engine turned over , so I need to change that.....or is there some way to clean the contacts? I know that in cars when they stick you just replace it. Done it many times in my younger days.

3) Water pump. I see that there are kits with and without a new housing. does it matter? I only use the boat maybe ten times a year in coastal Louisiana, which means mixed salt/fresh water. The pump is still healthy but if I decide to take a long trip I want some piece of mind.

4) Final question. Manuals. is the Seloc sold on iboats her okay for what I plan to do? Or should I spring for the Yamaha manual? I want to do this right the first time.

(1) Change the complete pump.
(2)Not repairable, must be replaced.
(3) Even the housing is not warped or in bad shape, I would replace the impellor only.
(4) The sealoc manual should be adequate for these services even though I much prefer the Yamaha ones.

Thanks Ray. So just the impellor for the water pump, not the backing plate? The motor has probably 250 hours on it total, it was never heavily used, My dad had it, after he died, it was passed to me. I see a water pump kit I may go that route, or am I spending money for nothing?

Since there is no way to edit my posts I am going to add that the difference between the water pump kit and just the impellor is 7 bucks. So I'd just as soon as have the kit. And I am going to spring for the Yamaha manual, as there a couple of other things I want to check out, like why my prime start isn't working...8)
