I picked up a 1995 yamaha 15 hp 2 stroke this week. The prop that is on it is pretty beat up so I figured I would order a new one. What would be the proper size for a 1436 aluminum jon boat? Im about to order a water pump and thermostat for it and would like to order a new prop at the same time.

Is the yamaha prop any better than the solas prop? This boat will be used primarily in small lakes and in flooded woods during duck season so durability is important.

Probably an aluminum prop just like the one you have would be the best....keep your old one for a spare...A new one should be about $40-$50....the size/pitch numbers should be on the front of prop hub....

Its got a 9 1/4 x 10 1/2 factory prop on it. The Solas brand props are in the 50-60 range. The yamaha props are $111. The yamaha prop is the only one ive found so far that offers a 10 1/2 pitch prop.
