1996 150hp temp ?

Hello everyone! The last time I was out, the temp. on my 1996 carbuerated 150 hp (serial #OG408006), ran from 120 degrees to about 175 degrees. The engine usually runs from 135 to 145. If I gave her some gas, the temp would go back to normal.<br />The engine is run in saltwater, and flushed after each use. It's got abot 400 hours on a new (in 2002) power head.<br />Any ideas? Water pump, thermostat, poppet? <br />Thanks in advance.

Change the water pump impeller....

Impeller is a good start for sure,,,<br /><br />But the poppet could be the culprit here (sounds right anyway)...<br /><br />Also change the thermostats....<br /><br />It sounds like you are due for all of the above....
