First of all, HI. I am Alex and I am new to this forum.
I have decent knowledge of my motors because I am always fixing something. I just did my first water pump on a newley rebuilt powerhead that had been sitting for 3 years. I figured why not. Turns out the other one was fine but did it anyway.
My question is this, are my thermostats stuck open because water is spitting out of both ports as well as peeing just great or did I mess something up? My other motor when just started just drips water and pees fine!
I ran the engine for 30 min and it didn't get so hot that I ouldn't touch it for 5 seconds or more but the starbord side is a little hotter.
I really want to know if I screwed this job up cause it's my fathers boat and he will kill me if I overheat his new motor.
Thanks,
Alex

all of my motors start peeing water within seconds of running and as long as you are getting a good volume of water the engine will not overheat, if anything it will run a little cold if the thermostats are stuck open.

Thank you, but I want to know why so much water at idle is spewewing out of both of my exsuast ports above the pee indicator when the motor is cold and just started.
Does this mean my thermostats are stuck open??
