1996 26 foot wellcraft excell prop size and pitch??

I just bought a 1996 26 foot wellcraft excell and it has the incorrect prop on the boat, I cant even find any numbers on it. I am trying to find out the right size and pitch I should be running before purchasing a new one, expensive. It has a 454 with a bravo 2 drive.

Have you checked under the prop nut for numbers?Do know the present max rpm and speed?A prop shop can measure it for you.

Ayuh,... It's a Merc. prop in 25" pitch...
That's probably 48, not 18, starting the #....

I will give BBlades a call, here is my boat info if it helps with any suggestions

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
Havent put in the water yet, but I dont think a 25 pitch prop is correct
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
Dont know manufacturer, it is aluminum
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
Dont know, I will try to measure diameter tomorow
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
Max for a 454 about 4500rpm???
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
454, bravo2, 1996, 300
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
Wellcraft excell, 1996, 26 foot, 5500lbs approx

This needs to be measured, a guess is useless.

I am going to try to get the boat in the river tomorow evening and will get back to you with some more information. I had to replace the water pump or it would have already been in.

Put the boat in for the first time this weekend and with a clean bottom and 4 adults, full gas, and no waste or water and it ran pretty good with a 17.5in
25p prop on it. It maxed out at about 4300rpm. On the engine cover it is rated at 4200-4600 max rpm. Should I prop down a little bit because when the bottom gets dirty and the boat gets loaded with **** it will be slower.

The rpm doesn't mean much wuthout the speed but::
Probably "prop down"But run it a little to see how it responds to a load.It will give you a better idea what you need.

45 mph on gps at 4300 rpm WOT
I want to buy another prop and use this one as my back up.
