Hello all. I have a 1996 regal 182 with a 4.3 lx and alpha 1 drive. I have been having issues with my fuel pump Here is what was done.
Changed fuel pressure switch. (fixed the problem while running)
When I leave the boat sitting during the week I come back next weekend and the carb is dry (I know kind of a common issue that Merc says is normal)
But today I was looking things over and tried to bypass the oil pressure sensor and the pump did not work. Tested the voltage at the pump and that was good. The pump became hot and I heard a click when trying to wire it directly. So I changed the fuel/water seperator and the pump started working.
Can the fuel/water seperator really cause my pump to not work? Or am I having intermittant fuel pump issues? The old filter was full of fuel that looked clean. Checked the small screen filter at the carb and that was clean. Any advice?
