1996 88SPL Swivel Bracket Donor question (see pic)

Here's the jist. I have a 1996 88SPL with a bad swivel bracket. I had found what i thought was a great donor bracket from a parts bin.

in the end, however, i see an obvious difference and wonder if this difference is enough to abandon the effort for another bracket.

donor is on the left, original is on the right [with oval highlight]

That slot may be there for the cam and switch for the tilt limit......
