1996 90hp Evinrude rough idle/stall

1996 90hp ocean pro. smokes alot on cold start up, has a slight miss at trolling speed which becomes worse at idle. After 2-3 minutes it stalls but will start easy again. High speed operation is outstanding. Compression is 120 in all clyinders, new fuel filter and plugs. Do these carbs have low speed jets? Friend suggested Seafoam additive to clean the carbs? How well does that work? and will it harm an aluminum fuel tank?

it sounds like you need a carb cleaning or have a fuel leak.

i havent used the sea foam personally but i plan to soon as i can find some, every time im at the parts store i forget.

your engine enternals are alluminum so i dont see where it would hurt your gas tank.

i dont know if just running seafoam through your system will clean your carbs maybe somebody on here will pipe in that has tried it.

when i clean my carbs i take a piece of reg wire and pull off one strand and clean out those hard to get to places (you dont want to cram some thing in there and risk scratching the inside), along with carb cleaner and compressed air. i dont like to keep taking them off cause i dont think they are clean.
