I have a 1996 Evinrude 50hp 2 cylinder outbaord that has fouled plugs 2 of the last 3 outings. The engine runs superbly until I lose one of the cylinders due to a fouled plug. The fuel/oil mixture is at 50:1. I use the reccomended Champion plugs. I use very inexpensive tc-w3 outboard oil. The size and pitch of my prop. is geared for top-end speed not acceleration and works well for my typical 2 person light load outings. The particular 2 of the last 3 times I took it out in which the plug fouled I had the max. amount of weight on my boat and really put a load of stress on the engine. Questions: Should I use NGK instead of Champs.? Should I buy more expensive tc-w3 oil? Does the high pitched prop and heavy weight, which probably limits rpm's affect any of this? Any other reccomendations?

Howdy CG.

None of the factors you mention are likely to cause plug fouling.

Incorrect timing could. So could carbon buildup.

Check your link n' synch adjustments and do a compression check.

The Champions are the correct plug to use.

Let us know what you find. :)
