1996 Evinrude 8 HP flusher

I screwed this up the last time that I submitted it so am trying again. My brother-in-law recently purchased a 1996 Evinrude 8 HP. He even has the manual but it doesn't say how to flush it out. (Hard to believe, I know, but that is what he says.) I have seen the motor and agree that there are no evident screens to which muffs can be applied. Can someone please help?

stick it in a tub or garbage can full of water and run it

or a 55 gallon drum works great too.<br />and there cheap.

i use a plastic 55 gallon drum cut 1/4 of the top off so its not so big and bulky. i got away with cutting mine in half. i also added a though hull fitting to the bottom side of the barrel with a gate valve so i can drain it very easy when i am finished. i had all this laying around but i am sure u can get what u need pretty cheap the valve is a very handy idea since its hard to drain the water out of the drum when u are done.

When the motor is off the boat, I use a large styrofoam flower pot; I cut a hole in the bottom and use a sink stopper and a string. Also when the motor is off the boat, you can use a sea-bag.<br />When the motor is on my sailboat, I spliced two 5 gallon paint buckets; and maneuver it into place with the boathook and a rope to the bail. This is exhausting, but I know of no other way,
