Greetings from the Aleutians

Attached are images of my current project. I have both carbs off and am waiting for the rebuild kits and service manual for the engine.

I can tell the carbs have been off before by scratches and an o ring missing from caps that cover the jets. Looking in the float chamber of the top carb, the jet on the right has brass that goes through to the float bowl. You can see it when looking down in to it. The left side does not have anything there and the float chamber of the bottom carb has nothing on either side.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

Thanks

Dan

the red circle, the brass is a high speed jet, that is not seated ( screwed in all the way).

Re: 1996 Johnson 88 SPL Carb Question

Took the carb in to motor pool today, seems a previous owner tried to rebuild the carbs without the proper tools or in a hurry and lodged the HS jet in the float assy. Then stripped the turning groove off the jet and lodged it in there.

New Assy and jets enroute.

I have 1989 Evinrude 88 SPL - carbs look the same except the float assy is the older plastic kind. Jets part number are the same.
Anyone know if it will bolt up? (and work...)

(yup! Bering Sea King Crab!! just need the engine to work so I can go get 'em)

it bolts up nicely and it works. Ran about 25 minutes in idle, no hesitation, no miss. have not tried it under a load. I'm sure a link and sync is in order just as I'm sure it can't be that simple and that something will come up and cause me grief.
