1996 Johnson Ocean Runner 225

Hi everybody. I am looking at a Mako Center Console 21' and it has a 1996 Johnson Ocean Runner on it. I was just wondering what kind of outboard this was. What are the maintenance costs like and what is the fuel effeciency of this engine? How would they compare to a comperable Mercury 225 or 200 EFI in terms of cost to run and maintenance.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

The fuel injected motors drink a lot less fuel but mechanical work cost more.
Take a look at the price of a set of fuel injectors. ($200 ea).

I prefer the low tech carbed engines , we mostly do our own work here.

Just steer away from the evinrude ficht models.

Hey Jonesg, I never though the fuel consumption on the EFI motors was significantly different than the carb ones. Now the DI motors do use lots less fuel....
