Just bought a used 1720 not too long ago. There's a wire sticking out on the back near the live well (Pictured) that I think is used to plug in a bubbler for the live well but I'm not sure. Can someone please fill me in. If it is for a bubbler, what kind would I need to get that would hook to it? Can you not just run the aerator pump continuously and let the extra water go out the overflow pipe? Also any suggestions on boat covers?

it does not look standard - i would guess that previous owner wanted installed it themselves of some sort of accessory - good luck. You may want to see if it is powered directly to battery or if it is switched.

thanks for the reply! How do you keep the bait alive if there isnt a way to get oxygen in? Just keep pumping fresh water into it?

Hi Woodjm, I just posted the same question since I have a DC 19 ft 2007 with 30 Gl of live well....did you found out answers for you question? I want to use live sardines but how I keep them alive? Should I just keep running water on it? if I turn off the engine it will kill the batteries?
Any advice will be appreciated

I am planning to add a live well timer to my boat in the upcoming months. That way I can set it and forget it. It will run the live well pump for a minute or so at whatever interval (5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.) I think is necessary. I have been intending to do this for quite a while, but deer hunting and fishing have been getting in the way. :)

Yea I believe you just keep running water through the live well. I chartered a boat in the keys and thats what they did. It shouldn't drain the battery too much I don't think. If you were worried about it you could always turn the engine on periodically to charge the battery up.

You have the option of running the pump all the time which is what most people do or installling a timer. If you are stopped for a while, i would turn a battery off to ensure that you can start the engine when you finish fishing. teh pump does not use much power at all. just dont run it all night and expect it to not uncharge your batteries.

Don't know about your model, but on our 2020dc we have a high speed pickup who does the job under way and we run the pump when stopped
