I got this motor used and it must of had a leak in the lower unit seals because saltwater got in and then froze up and expanded and cracked the outer wall of the lower unit. The powerhead is now frozen too.
Prior to this happening the motor ran fine.I freed up the seized lower unit and the powerhead is still seized. Why would a seized lower unit cause the powerhead to seize up ?
The motor was never operated while the lower unit was frozen so its not like it got overheated or anything.
Any opinions in general on the 225 EFI Mariner ?
Thanks in advance.:)

Re: 1996 Mariner 225 question ...

If the powerhead was prepared for storage with the same thought and care as the lower, what would you expect?

Worst case. a rodent homesteaded one of the cylinders.

hope it helps
