1996 Mariner with no spark

Hi all,

I have a 96 Mariner with a 75hp engine. I'm not getting any spark to the coil packs and nothing from the stator to the box that then hooks to the coil packs. However, I am getting a very weak signal (barley lighting the bulb on the test light) from the coil to another small box via a solid yellow wire. From the stator, I see two yellow wires going to this little box with one having a very weak signal and the other having nothing. Seems like it's the stator but i'm not sure how to correctly test it?

The stator has three sets of windings. Low speed ignition, high speed ignition, and battery charging. The yellow wires are for the battery charging and connect to the rectifier which convert the AC generated by the stator to DC current for the battery.

You must have the correct DVA meter or a DVA adaptor to use with a Volt meter to properly test the stator.

Remember, There is NO RETURN on expensive electrical parts. Never ASSUME any parts is bad until tested and PROVEN defective, TWICE.

You would not believe how many times owners spend a LOT of money replacing parts, only to learn the lanyard clip was disconnected.
