1996 Merc 200hp piston

Port middle piston - compression ring rotated, snagged exhaust port, ripped upper lip from exhaust side of piston. Cyl. walls OK , no gouges some plating on walls from piston - should hone OK<br />Replacement piston: Cast or forged ???<br />Any info appreciated. <br />Thanks

That be cast.... Get you a replacement piston(with rings, pin, and new clips too) from mercury. They got it all in one part number. I have tried singles from other manufacturers but they have rings seperate and it gets complicated and expensive. I use muratic acid dabbed on a rag to wipe off the aluminum, and for the bigger chunks, I have a cheap 3 shoed hone that I spin in the cylinder with oil, and it only take a couple of minutes with lots of oil.....
