This Spring I bought a 1996 Robalo 1820 CC with a 150Hp Mercury Offshore series outboard. The boat/motor combo is pretty heavy (2800 lbs). The power head was replaced by Mercury in September of 2001.

While under way, the engine stalls about a third of the way into the rpm range (about 1500rpm). The engine starts back up immediately. But this happens most of the time unless I gun the engine.

Also, at wide open throttle, I'm only producing about 4700rpm. The manual says WOT should be between 5000 and 5600.

Any thoughts? Is my prop over pitched?

I appreciate any comment.

captcharlie,
Is the fuel filter clogged?Fuel restriction? What size prop is on your Robalo?
Over a 19 pitch would be too much....17 pitch may be better...If you make a prop change, watch those RPM's.
