Ok i just put a new impeller thrust washers and the o-ring that goes over top the water pump housing and my motor is spraying water through the tale tell but not as good as i would like it to does anyone have any other ideas. Best i can tell the water tube is lined up correctly.

My '96 Mariner (rebranded merc, so, same motor as you) does this as well, even after I replaced the impeller. The guy I bought it from said it never sprayed as strongly as most outboards you see out there. Maybe it's just the way these motors go?

Is the issue at idle? My 92 Mariner has a somewhat sputtery tell tale stream at idle that increases to a steady stream as soon as you give it any throttle. This is always the way it's been and I've never had any overheating problems. That water from the telltale is warm but not hot.

Does the water tempature coming out make a difference being warm or hot
