Battery is new. Swapped out the batter for a another and same results. Normal voltage reading at idle, but both sonars give high voltage warning when under load. I could test it right at the battery but seeing as how i have the same results with both batteries, im leaning towards an electrical grimlin on the motor. oil pump bypassed.

Excellent. Thank you. Looks like a much cheaper alternate to the CDI brand. I appreciate that. I any link to install? Currently at work on the railroad. No time to search.

So the regulator came in the mail. 2 yellows, 2 reds, a grey, and a black. the black has an eye on it for ground? there is no black on the stock regulator and the red yellow and grey wires are in different orders. what do i hook up where?

So...i went ahead and hooked up the yellow wires that were closer to the right side of the units together, and the yellow closer to the left sides together. one red came female and one red came male so they hooked up accordingly. the greys went together. not the new unit had a black wire- assuming it was ground, i hooked it to a bolt with two other grounds under it. put the muffs on and fired it up. 14.4 volts at idle, and half throttle never got over 14.6 volts. much better than the 18 volts it was putting out this past weekend on the water. thank you so much for the info.
