I have a 1996 Sea Ray Sea Rayder F14 with Mercury Sport Jet 120 XR. Engine Serial# 0E141459. Mercury part number# 800-818 154A52 (correct me if I am wrong).
Initially I was on the water and started loosing power, had boat towed. I put in new plugs and got it to dry run. It would not start when I took it on the water the other day.
I had two mechanic look at the motor, one said it needs crankshaft bearings and other said I need new block because crankshaft is broken. Motor turns but does not run. I could not find new power head anywhere. I found a force 120 but my mechanic said it would not fit. Mercury said they discontinued the motor.
Is there anyone in the metro Detroit area that can rebuild it, or is it junk?
