Just bought a used boat and the speedometer only works when above 35 mph. Alpha Drive 4.3 liter inboard/outboard setup. Any suggestions??

Boat speedometers are notoriously innacurate anyway...buy a cheap handheld GPS and you'll know how fast you are really going.

Hey Bomar, where did you get a picture of my brother-in law?

2007Screw, that speedo has what they call a pitot tube,it is at the back of the boat at the bottom, as water passes over the tube it creates a vacuum that makes the speedo needle rise.
The problem is for it to be acurate the tube has to be really clean which they seldom are so even if you do get it working it willl just break again.
As Bomar said get a GPS, I have had one for 4-5 years and couldn't live without it now.
They are always exactly right and alot of them have lake maps to boot.
