Hello all
2 questions if I may--
The first of which, I have a 1996 Stingray and I need a new fuel sending unit. My tank is only about 5 inches deep, and I am not sure which type of sending unit to use. I tried the universal one, but ran the boat out of gas because the gauge was off (it read at 1/2, but I was out of gas). The unit I took off had a gauge on top of the sending unit and a cork-like float attached to a lever with metal teeth. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Question is: Which sending unit would you suggest I get for this? Its a 3.0L MerCruiser.
Second question: My brother in law has a 1986 VIP, OMC. It overheats, only when it is going in gear on the LAKE, not when we muffle it and run the hose through it--never overheats at idle. We have replaced the impeller, water pump, and thermostat. What else would you suppose it would be? The seal around the transom was one idea.. but maybe a bad head gasket?
