1997 115 evinrude tach operation

Im having intermitant operation of my tach ,sits at eg. 3000 rpms then nothing then back to 3000 may only do it once in 20 mins.i have read here it could be the rectifier.did the rectifier ohmmeter test for my unregulated 6 amp system and it shows rectifier ok as per manual.my question is can it still be the rectifier giving me this intermitant readings on my tach and show good on the test. thanks scott

Look for loose connections from the tach, through the plugs and all the way back to the rectifier. Next option is get another tach that you're works and swap 'em out.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty
