Hello Every one ..Am new to the forum and to the boat world couldn't find any other place to seek help but here . So am glad to come across this place and join the happy boater world ...

I just bought my 1st boat Sunbird Neptune 201 with 1997 130hp 2 stroke 4 carb v4 . Here's what am experiencing after i done few work to it as I changed the thermostat , power head gasket which i did to clean all the cooling chamber ..Reason was i was getting hot buzzer at low speed , water pump was replaced so it was out of question to go after the pump .Now it run great with no HOT light buzzer but ?..

This is an intermittent issue at different throttle speed.. for example I would be coming out of NO wake zone and push on the throttle to take off boat feel like lost power to me the best way i can describe it as if am running on 1 or 2 cylinder / or it lagged power then it takes of fine all day, Cylinder compression was excellent like 120 PSI with all plugs out then could be trolling all day long fine then it does it ..I didn't notice it at WOT at all ..Runs strong, I just checked the spark plug wires from the coil end to the plug end they are secure in place. No loose wire, no strange missing fitment ?etc

i got water/fuel filter separator just installed, inspected the 2nd fuel filter under the hood which it appears ok . Not sure what to think since It?s intermittent but hate to let go to develop a bigger problem. Some friend say maybe trash some where in the line ..DO i need to clean the Carbs ? does the fuel tank which is (Poli tank )got sending unit with strainer like in Automobile /Motorcycle application ...? Just curios if it's fuel or electrical related issue as am thinking or guessing if it's fuel it will do it most the time and all the time at WOT even more .., The only thing I could think of different was I pumped 87 fuel grade but I been pumping 89 ?

Any feed back will be really appreciated

Re: 1997 130 Even help /tips needed PLEASE

it could be dropping spark on a cylinder or fuel related.

try putting a timing light on plug wires and watch to see if it keep flashing on each one as it bogs down. Takes 2 peope to do safely on the water.

Also try pumping the fuel bulb when it bogs down as a seperate test to see if the fuel pump is tired.

Also try running fuel from a small can to eliminate the onboard fuel system.
New fuel line and NEW bulb too.

one of these will show where the problem is.

if it were mine I'd replumb everything from the tank pickup to the engine, consider how that fuel line is already.

Do you think if it's dropping spark on a cylinder it would do it all the time ..?
It doesn't do it for a long time or enough time for me to get a timing light on the plug wires..... but it's a good option to check as well ....

I have a feeling it's that ethanol in gas cleaned the tank and some that garbage try to work it's way every now and then ??!!!!!!!!!!!!

you do not need 2 filters, could be restricting fuel flow. separator is enough. carbs are easy enough to check. sounds as if you are having trouble when you first start using the motor, with the motor off and cool, watch the timing plate and see if it is moving smoothly, could be stuck, and then frees up as the motor warms up.

I agree with you on the 2 filter , I was thinking to remove the finger filter under the hood which is going directly behind the Carbs , I got to run straight 3/8" house from the prim pump which is coming out of the separator to that fuel regulator or that thing I think before it goes to each Carb .

Don?t mind me ask as am new to this Eng ..Where is the timing Plate unless you referring to the fly wheel , Do you have a pic to it .

A friend at work said it sound like Spark plugs fouling as i troll @ 7mph 2 k RPM for hours at a times give and take the tie / current change , He said deposit on the plugs and when u ready to take off it bogs and clean it self out ...What you think..?
