1997 225 new tach with system check

i have 1997 225 twin engines replaced with new tach's with system check lights in tach;s ( 8 pin conecter) bolth tach's read the same with one engine running and only the key on on the other and vice versa tach's always sincronized with each other, the pulse switch is set to 6 is this correct also they jump around when running at fast speed ( 3500 rpm)

It sounds like you do not have them wired properly. Sounds like both tachs are wired to the same engine, or your wiring harnesses are bridged, possibly by other gauge wiring.

Trace one of the sensor wires or the grey wire from each engine to each tacho. Each motor harness should connect to each tach, without connecting to each other. Also, the 8 pin connector should be the only wires on the tachs. Remove any other wires from the back of each tach.

Chris, I already told him miswired in another thread on the same topic and he started a new one. Guess he didn't like that answer.
