I have a 1997 2 str 25 hp merc and had the following problem this morning, got out fishing and put the motor into neutral and it died after a few seconds, wouldn't start again, finally tried putting the choke on and it fired up only to die when I moved the throttle forward. Next I pulled the choke all the way on which gives it a squirt of gas and pushed it back in and started it, this seemed to work and I quickly put in in to gear and headed in. When I got into the harbour, I tried putting it in neutral again and it died after a couple seconds and it wouldn't start again. I can still start it with the choke thing but, if I try giving it any throttle in neutral it makes a bogged down sort of sound and dies. I did have it in last winter and replaced the reed block, plugs and some carb gaskets for a different problem and it has so far run great this year[had it out 3 times]. Any ideas? does this sound like the fuel pump? Thanks
