Hey All!

Just recently acquired a new to me 1997 25hp Evinrude and I have some questions I am hoping someone can help me with. (I did use the search button and couldn't find what I needed). The model number is "E25REUM"

1- I am trying to find a manual for it. In my searches I read that the Clymer and Seloc manuals are not recommended. I have found the following book on ebay and I think it is the right one but want to know for sure before spending the money. It lists E25REU and is missing the "M" so I am not sure what that's all about.

2- Does the picture of my carb look right? It just looks like it is missing a cover or something but I am no mechanic.

3- The spark plugs currently on it are in rough shape. It is two Champion QL77JC4 plugs. Are these the correct plugs for this motor?

4- I bought a water pump kit and am going to replace it and change the lower unit fluid. Do you know off hand what the proper fluid is for the lower unit?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time to answer my questions.

1...Don't worry about the M. Buy the book.
2... Carb looks okay. They came that way from the factory.
3...They're the correct plugs.
4... Get what the manufacture recommends.

Congrats on the new motor.

1) Yes, that is the correct OEM service manual. I did find a cheaper one...

2) Yes, the carb is complete, but it does look like its missing a cover since OMC eliminated the air silencer.

3) Yes.

4) 80-90W Marine Gearcase lube. Be sure to change the washers on the drain/fill plugs.

Also, be sure to use TCW3 2 cycle outboard oil at 50:1 fuel mix. Good luck.

Boobie and Jasper, thank you both for the help! Also, great find on the manual... I found one last night around $30 and took my chances and bought it. Glad I made the right choice. Thanks again!
