1997 40 HP Merc NO SPARK

1997 40 HP Mercury
4 cylinder 2 Cycle (stroke)
Oil Injected-Twin Carburetor
Serial No. G555880 (could be an 0 b4 the G)

Coasting to the boat ramp and she just quit. Tried to start...nothing. Tried it 3 days later and it started, but hasn't since. No spark to the plugs. Turns over fine...just no spark. I have a multimeter (just bought) but not sure what to do with it. Don't know where to start.

I don't fully understand this post but iboats sells or rents www time with Seloc maintenance/service manuals. I have used them and like them. In there you should find answers to your troubleshooting questions.

Do a good visual look over the motor. Look for broken wire connections or any loos connections. Otherwise could be bad stator, trigger or switch box.
